Message mechanical properties imply. The more times the engine is cycled (i.e. RPM) over the threshold HP, which equates to stress on the components, the higher the likelihood something is going to give.

Think of a boxer taking a beating. A few hits from a 5 year old - surely ok. A thousand hits from a 5 year old - still ok. Take an uppercut by Mike Tyson of 15 years ago - maybe ok for the first few times, but take a bunch of those over and over and over again and the likelihood that said boxer is going to go down is pretty high.
